Why I built LifePost
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2003, as a 15-year-old, I was diagnosed with leukemia. I’m still here, and I’ve been in remission ever since.
That wasn’t the last scare. In 2023 I went into cardiac arrest at the gym and was “dead” for 8 minutes before they revived me. This year I had brain surgery to remove a tumor. I’m writing this five months later, still recovering, and grateful.
When life hands you that many reminders, a few things get clear.
Life is hard sometimes. But it’s also short.
Neither one is a reason to stop.
You keep going, and you look for meaning along the way: do what you love, and use what you’ve been through to help someone else. Maybe that’s a person facing the same problems you did. Maybe it’s someone who just hasn’t had the luck you’ve had.
There’s one more thing I keep coming back to. Most of us are forgotten within a few generations. When the last person who remembered your name is gone, your stories go with them, along with your advice and everything you would have wanted to say.
I built LifePost so that doesn’t have to happen. It’s a simple place to write down and share the things that matter to you, in your own way, and have it last: for your kids, for their kids, and for strangers who might need to hear it someday.
This is mine. I hope you’ll write yours.
